FAQs

Do I need a doctors referral?

You do not need a doctors referral. However, some insurance plans may require one, so check with your plan administrator. If you have a referral, please bring it to your appointment.

What is Dry Needling or IMS?

Dry needling is an umbrella term for treatments such as acupuncture and Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS). We practice IMS at Ridgeline Physiotherapy.

After careful assessment and client consent, the needle is inserted into a tight, painful, or restrictive muscle or trigger point to cause a release. Sometimes benefits are felt immediately and other times it may take a few days/sessions.

What other services are offered?

Do you direct bill?

Yes we direct bill to most insurance plans. Please input your policy information into your online booking profile or bring your card to your appointment.

What should I wear to my appointment?

To allow the therapist to properly examine your area of concern, please wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. For upper body appointments, a tshirt, tank top or sports bra is recommended. For lower body appointments, shorts are preferred, however, comfortable pants are also acceptable.

What happens during an assessment?

An assessment will begin with a detailed history taking to understand the nature of your injury or concern. After this, the therapist will assess posture, range of motion, strength, sensation, reflexes, functional movements, tenderness, and conduct a series of other special tests related to your area of concern. Once the issue is identified, you will receive treatment and some exercises to perform at home.
